That bike is actually a 1983 maxim, only 1983 maxims had that large bolt down by the rear foot rest, it goes thru the exhuast pipe with a large rubber mount. Also 1982 maxims had a fuel gauge the 83's did not.

It's a Midnight by serial number.

that bike is SOOooo NOT a Midnight Maxim. Im not saying its not worth what you are asking for it, but I dont see a single thing on that bike that is "midnight" aside from the cylinders.

Its possible the bike was a complete rebuild using the a different frame. If the mubers do in fact point to it being a MM, its certainly is a mystery bike.

The carb hats are gold. Thats a midnight specific part

Perhaps the bike was stolen and someone swapped frames with a midnight?

Midnight Maxims had the same trim as the Seca. Gold instead of Black rims, Gold around the side covers, black fenders, Gold gas cap, Gold seat rails and Black engines. Also the lower part of the front forks would be black. I don't see any midnight parts at all. Double check with chacal on the serial#

Look, I'm not sure why all of the grief on here, but the serial was checked on the vin checker, through Iowa and Florida DMV and Georgia State Police did a check as I am friends with about 4 of them. It's not parted, not stolen, and it is a midnight maxim. The kid didn't like the colors because it was Iowa Hawkeye colors and he went to UNI (like Kurt Warner) so he wanted to chrome it by having the paint removed and colored it prowler purple. I am actually glad to be rid of it because now I don't have a reason to be on here and listen to this babble. Got it you all know your stuff, but when I say the VIN matches and it is a Midnight maxim why would you all try to be so childish as to throw in your two cents every chance you get to say "nah uh, no it's not a Midnight" Seriously?

OK I guess your the authority on this but however its really strange that there is not one part that resembles a "midnight" bike. So the vin matches the engine and its not hot. Good for you.

    Here's a real Midnight Maxim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXH2se1wbiI
