I just bought a 82 Maxim 650 (will post some picks later) and the seat pan is plastic. My question is is this normal for these bikes?

I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I've had a stock seat on my bike. I've got two at the house from an 82 parts bike so I'll check and post back if someone else doesn't beat me to it. I'm pretty sure they're metal though, one of the pans I have has a bit of rust on it and plastic doesn't rust.

Where in Maryland? I'm in essex.

I have the same bike, all stock (as far as I know). Mine is plastic. It has a mechanical seat latch underneath and it has no rust. :)

Yes. All of my Yammies have plastic seat pans.

Thanks for the info. I may have to replace the seat latch to keep it in place. The two square posts seem to have rounded off a bit.

Was at my shop earlier. The stock seat certainly does have a platic pan. The king/queen with the back rest is steel.

Either way I have two seat latches george. If you want one let me know.
