Am in the gathering parts stage of refreshing the front end and later the back end. The bearing code/sizes/measurements for Front wheel, Steering head and Rear wheel, Swing arm bearings, would be most welcome. Shop locally when possible.

    Re: Bearing sizes

    Hey Bushy,

The bearing code you need is the first 4 digits (EG 6302), then just ask for the sealed type. That code is generic across all the bearing manufacturers.

With the steering head, the larger ID bearing is for the bottom (you wouldn't get the smaller ID bearing over the larger ID stem  )

    Re: Bearing sizes

I just priced some swingarm bearings from Yamaha and they were over $60 each. I got the shop to check if they were the same as XJ900 and Diversion and they are.....which means I have a spare one somewhere in the shed from my old Diversion.

I'll try and dig it out and get a bearing number for you. If they're a generic size we should be able to get them cheaper at a bearing shop.

    Re: Bearing sizes

    Here we go....

The swingarm bearing I have is a 30203.

    Look here:

    http://www.thebearingshop.com/E1.htm

And it's the second one listed (17 x 40 x 13.25MM @ 8.53 UK Pounds) - and appears to be a common size. Ring around a few bearing shops and you should be able to get them cheap

    Re: Bearing sizes

Thanks Hillsy, another (silly?) question are they the same bearing on both sides of the swing arm.

Done...... hope someone else finds this useful. If there are mistakes be sure and let me know and why, so I can fix them, it took a lot of hunting to find the codes.

So what are the tapered steering head bearing part numbers??? Did I miss something? I'm looking for the part numbers for 1983 XJ750 tapered bearings.

I bought my tapered headstock bearings from Chacal (XJ4EVER) for my Seca 750.
Click the banner at the top of this page - send Chacal a PM.

I have nothing against xj4ever but i don't subscribe to th meme that he is th only place to get parts, especially for things that will fit many purposes and assorted machines.

They must be sitting on a shelf in oz or anywhere, just need th right #'s to find them, local postage or pick up is cheaper than international shipping, where ever you are.
