:?: Ok guys XJ700 has a fuel sender unit which is just a float switch that turns on a light when fuel gets low.
A bunch of guys here reported a not working unit which its easily identified due no light. But I have a different case.
In my case the light is on all the time and I just bought a brand new unit from yamaha website and same thing happened light is on all the time full tank or empty tank.

    Any clues???? :?:

i know my 750 seca had burned wires from the connector into the main harness from the fuel sender, had to replace those to get it to work. maybe check there? or if it's unplugged for some reason, same thing will happen. make sure the contacts are making contact, get a manual with wiring diagrams so you can check continuity from plug to farther up the harness.

Ok SECAS use totally different fuel sender which is based on a rheostat and shows fuel quantity which is not the case of XJ700's. Plus I said its brand new Yamaha genuine part and is doing same problem as my old one that means light stay on all the time.
So its working but not the way supposed to.
Some more information I forgot to mention the bulb has polarity as it has all bulbs on the panel would that influence on the light staying on all the time?

So continuity is not the problem its working but its staying on all the time. and should go off when tank is full.
