Hey guys, I have an 82 750 SECA and I'm looking to modernize the electrical. Why? Long story short I can't track down a few of the problems I'm having occasionally. And rather than order replacement parts that are already 30 years old that may or may not have their own set of issues, I just want to.. modernize things.

I'm not sure what the best way to accomplish this is, but I will be going with a new digital speedo/tach/gauge assembly, and I will be using a magnetic speed sensor rather than the speedo cable config that is stock, other than that, I just want to do away with as many relays as possible.

So, the reason I am throwing this post out is because there is someone else on this site that has done something similar and I have been looking for a couple hours on the forums and can't seem to find it anymore.

If anyone can point me to someone with some experience here or to a similar forum that would be great. Thanks!

i did the same thing so how hard can it be :)
i left all the relay sockets on the harness, just in case.
your going to have a bunch of wire left over, if your really sure it's right
you can cut a lot off but then your never going back.
all of my excess wire fit in the space behind the steering head but it ain't easy

Would you happen to have any sort of diagram or anything for what you did?

I put a set of Koso instruments and electronic speedo pick up on mine with late model switches and sealed weatherpack connectors. New fusebox and electronic flasher unit etc.

Pretty sure most of it is covered in my Pumba project build on here.

New speedo looks great. I am currently rebuiling an 82 550 maxim. I ended up pulling the entire electrical harness out to replace. I would love to know how your re-wiring goes as the electrical part to these bikes is the only thing I have trouble wrapping my head around. I too, would like to simplifly.
