Looks good, but a few words thrown in to describe the mod, how hard/easy it was to do and links for parts etc. make a more rounded post for others to learn from.
Basically a description outlining each picture.

I like the LED lights in the switches and the GPS.

If I ever got rid of my atari (or non-atari model bike) that would be a very cool mod!

Great stuff, can we get some bigger pictures and descriptions tho? I want to know how you mounted your rear-sets and how comfortable they are, I'm working on that problem right now!

    Added some descriptions

As far as links for parts I get them from numerous places not hard to find, and I dont keep track.

How hard the mods were would depend on your skill level, None of this was hard for me just time consuming figuring out how to make it come out the way my mind had envisioned it. and sometimes doing it 3 or 4 different times to acomplish what I Want.

Lots of welding and smoothing metal to smooth the frame added metal tabs to mount the rearsets. As far as comfort? I dont know havent been able to ride it without the engine complete.

Looking good. How did you come up with the linkages for the shifter?

bought a solid alluminum rod and tapped one side left and one side right hand. I believe it is 1/2" solid round I used 1/4" heim Joints from Ace hardware

did you have to do any mods to the r1 rearsets to make them fit? how do you like the riding position with them?

Riding position is ok, my r1 is more comfy but that could be because I have had it a lot longer and risen it a lot more.
I didn't modify the rearsets but I had to weld on tabs to mount them on the xj frame

Badass. Is the clutch lever assembly and master cylinder assembly from an R1 as well?

very good. im thinking about doing the gps aswell. did you just mount it to a bar and then clamp the bar with the old clamps?

and that seca 550 tank, if it is one.. is a direct fit? or did you have to mod?

im looking for a tank for my 81 650 maxim and i just dont really like the style of the stock one

    I used clip on bars
I made the gps mount from a piece of sheet metal drilled holes to the stock clamp bottoms and bolted it to that with shorter bolts

I had to modify the frame mounts to use the 550 seca tank

I call it a cafe but it just turned out like it is
The bike is for sale in the phoienix az area if anyone is interested
