    Hey yall,

I have an 81 xj550 maxim that I'm tinkering with and I'm thinking about putting a new tank on it, change up the look.

Are there any key measurements I should look for in looking for a different tank?

I'll probably have to order it off the internet, so It'd be good to know what to ask.

    Thanks yall!

    -Distance between the front mounts.
    -"Tunnel" width."
    -Overall length.

Here are some example measurements from a 550 Seca tank, this was for someone who wanted to use one, so some of these won't be all that important if you're fitting a Bultaco tank or something:

Hey Fitz you wouldnt happen to have said tank kicking around would ya? The one I picked up for my maxim is hardly worth repairing further. Sorry to thread jack sexface.

The secca tank swap is fairly straight forward. All I had to do was cut the rear tank mount and slide and re weld the mount back about an inch.

Ill post up some pics of my build one of these days.

You guys didn't answer his question.

My gas tank key measures 1.413" long, .377" wide, and .068" thick.
