New member with old bike doing restoration

Hi guys,

My dad has asked me to fix up his '83 XJ-750 after letting it sit for almost 8 years. luckily, it sat inside his shop so it wasn't left in the extreme cold and was dry the whole time.

List to stuff I need to do or replace:
Exhaust, brake lines, brake pads, throttle lines, tires, clean the carbs, new plugs, new battery, install jet kit, replace gear lube, new grips and polish lots of metal.

I found the owners manual and on the back page there is a listing of the oil changes. In my writing back in '99, I changed the oil at 26,522 miles. It now has 26,732.........200 miles in 8 years. 8O

One question about the carbs and jet kits. I was wondering (and hoping) that the carbs on the '82 XJ750 were the same as the carbs on the '83. I picked up a Dynojet jet kit even though it said it was for an '82 model. The reason I bought the jet kit anyway was because my local dealer told me the differences between the two years was so minor that the jet kit would work in both years of bikes.

Will I have troubles putting this Dynojet jet kit for an '82 in my '83?
