As some of you may know. I recently picked up an '83 900RK Seca. One of the issues that I am having is that the front fairing did not come with the bike. The bike originally came with the fork mounted bikini fairing, and I do have some options on locating a replacement.

The 900F came with the larger frame mounted fairing. From what info I have been able to find. This is also the same fairing that some of the '83 900's were refitted with. This is also the same 42N fairing that is available on the 84-85 FJ600, and uses the same mounting bracket.

From the info that I have found. The mounting bracket for the larger fairing attaches to tabs, or a bracket welded on the steering neck tube, and to the holes in the down tube frame gusset on these bikes. It also uses a special mounting bracket for the gauge cluster that attaches to the triple tree.

I am also looking at the possibility of using the lower fairing/bellypan/cowling on these bikes, but have not been able to locate any info as to how they are mounted to the bike.

    Some of my questions are.

Is there anyone with the 900F, FJ600, or a 750RL that would be willing to take some pics of the fiarings, and mounting brackets attached to the bike, and post them for me?

Does anyone have any information on what yamaha did to refit this larger frame mounted fairing onto the bikes without the extra brackets?

Can someone give me a link to a part schematic For the 84-88 XJ900F, and the 84 XJ750 RL? These bikes were not available in the U.S. and the part schematics are not available through normal means.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanx ronnie.
I thought that someone would be having the bike apart with the offseason on us now. If you could get as detailed as possible on the pics it would be greatly appreciated.

I am curious to how much of the 600 in 84 and 85 enterchange, the seats look really similar, and there is an abundance of the gas tanks on the 600, although the look taller and shorter, the seats shown look alot like the 900 seats.

The 600 tank is smaller in all ways, not sure about the seat.

The seat is a little different, too.

Now, if you wanna see something really neat... check out the guy's project at:

Who knows....I may just try this with my 900rk #3 when I get it built.

Yea that actually is, I have the fork mounted fairing, but think I would prefer to install the frame mounted version.

Thanx for the pics. It helps answer a few questions.

In order to attach the frame mount fairng on a bike that originally came with the fork mount bikini fairing. A Mounting flange would have to be fabricated, and welded onto the steering neck tube. As can be seen in the last pic on the right side between the two bolt heads.
