I've been brainstorming over some possible winter projects. I'm thinking about relocating the rear fender.

What I had in mind was using a skinnier fender, something close to tire width. I want to get the fender to hug the tire closer so I was thinking about mounting a couple tabs on the swing arm. Then, in theory, I could bolt the fender to the swing arm and use a couple support braces in the rear.

Of course, this is nothing major. I was just wondering if anyone around here has done it or maybe someone could direct me towards some pics?

I removed just the rear half of the fender and relocated the taillight and license plate so it's tucked up under the seat on my xj650rj. works well

Was thinking how I used a Radian rear fender to update the look on my XS.
Best part is it also fits an XJ550 Maxim - bolts right on. Should fit the larger XJ bikes too.

Yamaha oem frame rails for most XJ & XS models are 7" inside edge to edge.
Usually requires only 1 or 2 washers to get the Radian part tight.

Have the fender left from my first XJ project ...
