Hey guys I am doing my fork seals and dont have a book or the xjcd. I justneed to know the fork oil amount in cc's or level it should be . The bike is a 82 650 seca. Any help from some one with a manual would be great.

I have a Yamaha service manual for the XJ 750 K Maxim. The indication is 278 cc (9.8 Imp oz), recommended oil: Yamaha Fork Oil 20 wt or SAE 10W30 type SE motor oil.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE FORKS ARE THE SAME ON YOUR 650 seca, so you should check that out.

    Cheers

PS. Standard air pressure= 5.7 PSI; Max= 17 PSI; MIN=5.7. (The standard and min are the same). The difference between tubes should not exceed 1.4 PSI.

The 650 Seca manual specifies 236 +/- 4cc of Yamaha 10 wt fork oil. 8 oz is close enough, so a pint bottle will do the trick if you don't slop any.

Oil level is 400mm with the spring removed and fork compressed.

The recommended 10W Fork Oil might not be the best choice for you.

How you ride, where you ride -- and, "How much there is of you -- ridin' " ... may be a reason to try a lighter or heavier oil.
