ignition/key(s)

lookin for ignition and key(s) for 85 maximx 700..if anyone has these items please let me know and we will make a deal hopefully. thanx...ridz 8)

 

Pretty sure Ebay is the best source for stuff like this -- some better locksmiths can get you the right keys though.

My key for my 85 xj700n says Ilco X118 also crosses to YH49 but it doesnt say whet brand that is though.

Here's a link that might be able to get you the blank, I'd get several, incase the key doesnt work right the 1st time or two.

Does your ignition switch have one or two pigtail wires that come out of it. I have a spare,brand new, that has the single pigtail end on it. You are welcome to it for 15.00 plus the postage. If this is the one you need.

 

samsr when I get home Ill look at that..and ill post a pic for you..I left it on because I still ride it..but now it so loose you have to jiggle the key to keep the back light working..so its time.I just did nt want to pay the high cost from the stealer ship. 8)

 

The one I have is an Aftermarket one. I bought it when I purchased my bike and the original was at the locksmith getting a key made. It worked to run the bike, it was just missing one plug for my aplication. Comes with two keys if it is the correct one for you.

 

samsr: I havent forgot about your offer! Im just so busy right now I took the dash off the other day but due to work and other things. I havent been able to get out to the garage. well the housing is cracked on mine and the po put door screws in the housing and then duct taped it down. I laughed my ass off when I seen it, but hey what can you do..once again thanx for the offer and if its still a standing offer when I get out to the garage tomorrow.. Ill take it off shoot you a pic then if its workable. ill send the money off..watch your pm box or ill shoot this thread back up with some pics..thanx again ridz safe....ridz 8)

Now all I have to do is find it. It is in the garage somewhere. Does the housing use two screws to mount it?

 

Yes it does take two screws, the po used 2 door screws and duct tape..lol well any wayz ill keep you posted.ridz

 

Here some pics sam! I even (silly me.) had to include some of the screws. It was so amusing to me . you can even see the duct tape marks 8O .

looks like someone stole tha aluminum housing that mounts it to the bike. Does the plug end have one plug or two. The one I have has one plug. I still need to find it though. Should find it today. I will let you know

 

The picture before the screw shows the only plug there is..So yes it has one plug..Thanx samsr :wink:

Hey,do you have one of those 700's I could buy from you. Just kidding. A 700 would be nice though. I just missed out on a running 86 maxim x. Yesterday. Made me sick to my stomach. Missed it by about a minute. Price will really make you sick too. 400.00 It pains me to even type it. Maybe another day. I do know where one is that needs a rear fender and light. The kicker there is, it needs a title. I will geta pic up soon.
