Valve clearance

    Made from 52100 bearing steel , and yes Ron casehardens the finished shim Price runs about 20.00 less than most and and that 's replacing all eight
    , according to Ron it's not the shim that wears .

    The only wear that I've seen on the number-side of a shim is on a couple that I pulled out of a dead engine. those two had been put in upside down and the number was worn off from camlobe action. The underside doesn't wear because of the thin layer of oil between the shim and the bucket.

    "Ron" is losing lots of money on every one of those shims he makes. And how he properly cuts, finishes, and case-hardens them in one day is a true mystery.

    That man needs a TV show......

    Have no no idea , but he makes them for the Kawasaki and my Honda too , generally if I phone him early morning , I can pick them up after work . Last time it was next day but it was less than 24 hr when he called .
