Here is a picture of a carb bank that the sell thinks are off of a 650 Maxim. Are they? I thought the 650 and 750 where the same, these are obviously off a bike with two petcocks.

XS1100. They have got the vacuum advance spigot coming off carb number 2. Plus they've got the so called "octopus" attatched to the vacuum to the carb intake rubber. Mikuni BS34's.

I was going to say that they're Mikunis, not Hitachis.

Ground-Hugger, They are Mikunis, the little tube which goes from the diaphram chamber to the bottom section is a design feature found on mikunis, not Hitachis, also the carb hats are cast aluminum, Hitachis are stamped steel. They probably came off a Kawasaki or Suzuki.

They most certainly did not come from an XJ 650.

But i swear to you my old, they are deffo Mikuni BS34's from an XS1100 SF or Special. The XJ1100 had the same carbs but the MK 3's like an FJ.
But i promise i'll take a picture for you tomorrow.

They sure do look like the carbs on the XS1100SF I have in the shop.

Why do you want pics? The carbs are coming back off probably Monday so I could shoot some for you.

Who is selling, and how much $$ wanted?

Well I was looking at buying them but he has no clue what they are for and I new they could not be from a XJ/Seca 650.

BS34 Mikunis from a 78 or 79 XS1100, standard or special. Could be either one. 78 and 79 were the only years with the cast carb hat, 80 to 82 1100s have the chrome stamped steel hat.

    Here you are then G-H.
I forgot that i'd taken this set apart, but look at carb number 2, you can see the spigot for the vaccuum advance to the right of the centre of the body, you can see the plastic cap covering the pilot screw, and then in the second picture you can see the knurled idle adjuster nut and the two fuel inlets. These havn't got the "octopus" but they are exactly the same.
    Mikuni BS34's.

OK thanks a lot I really appreciate the trouble you have gone through. I'll be purchasing the carbs. Just needed to know for sure what bike they fit. I knew they were not for an XJ650.

Just a bit of an update on those carbs. I bought them for $19 dollars off of Fleabay. Had a bit of a discussion over shipping. It started out at $39 and ended up at $50. I refused to pay that as he had quoted me $39 from PA to Ontario. So I made it clear that I would no pay $50 shipping since he quoted me $39 BEFORE I committed to buy it. He saw it my way and I paid the original price quoted.
