The new addition will see the old Turbo going into the classifieds within the month. So long Yamapuffer, it's been real.....too real sometimes.

I'm going back to my Suzuki roots. I have some unfinished business with this GS1100. I had the same engine in a 1980 GS1000S frame, all jet gloss black, but I had to sell it for financial reasons just 7 months after buying it. The XJ900 I had was a worthy replacement, but it too was sold, not for financial reasons, but as excess baggage on a cross-country move in search of a better life. The turbo was a mend and make-do replacement I bought for cheap until I found something I really wanted. It was never really my kind of bike though. Seems a shame, I just got most of the turbo's shortcomings taken care of, including new shocks just a few eeks ago, now someone else will reap the benefits. Ain't it always the way! No complaints here though, I'm happy as hell!

BTW, the GS feels like a 400 compared to the Seca. That is one HEAVY bike!

Aw yes, the old Suzukis! I had a GS850 a few years back and it was a great bike (shoulda kept it) The 1100 looks very similar to the Secas. Let us know how it treats you. >PD<

Dreamed of owning a 83 GS1150E some day. First Suzuki was a GS550T, what a turd. Swore off of them once I picked up my Max.

Hmmmm If yr going to Suzuki the current GXSR1000 is a whole different planet better than these old things... Weight as example, is in the under 400lbs area.. likely 1/3 less than your current suzuki, brakes that will give one Religion , and power :) more than 2 Xj's together. :)
    Sometimes newer CAN be better.

It's true, they are lighter, more nimble and more powerful, but they just don't have the character I've grown to love. So I'm gonna put around on my antique in proud fashion and prove that there is something else to bikes than having it all.

Yeah, stick around Mac. I smile whenever I see your nick on a post. Probably my Scottish roots. :)

Oh, I'll be around. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I like helping people out. Makes me feel like I learned something useful at some point, lol.

As far as the Gixxer goes, I'd have one if I could afford it. Lets face it, most of us probably wouldn't be riding 20+ year old bikes if we had the dosh for something a lot newer, unless it's for nostalgia reasons, or a project bike, or for like Robert mentioned. I'd have a Hayabusa anyway, if the ultimate Suzuki was my goal. When I buy bikes, however, I'm usually limited to a one-payment financing deal!

The guy I bought the GS from knew of another guy who sold an Eddie Lawson Replica a few weeks ago for only $1000, since nobody would travel out to the countryside to go look at it. Where the heck am I when these things come up??

No kidding, I'd like to score that deal myself.
As for the GSXR's, like all current sportbikes they are all awesome, but only befitting to smaller guys, that's why Busa's and ZX14's are more my flavor too.
Oh yea, I love the 80's air cooled bikes, and not to argue any point, but those old GS engines and really any of the old BIG air cooled engines can be built to produce far more power then any new R1, GSXR's etc, they simply don't have the size to build 1500+ cc 350 horsepower engines like the old Boys can. That's why the old GS casings are still the basis built in all prostock dragbikes today.
GS 1150 was built from 84' - 86'. But comparing today's sportbikes to these older bikes is apples to oranges nowadays. They were considered the sportbikes of back then, but we've got more specific classifications now. Now the Busa's & Big Ninja's are considered GP bikes, they really aren't considered reply-racer sportbikes and wouldn't stand a chance against R1's & GSXR1000's on a road course. They are bigger and fit larger Joe's and will rip more impressive 1/4 miles. But I think they're kind of the inbetween of sportbikes and sport tourer's.
I just went on a test ride of a new FJR1300 yesterday, man that is one sweet machine, and I was really impressed how much power it had too with my son on the back and it had the rear sidebags.
