So im wanting to do pods and jets with my exhaust Im building.... Ive looked over ebay, to not much avail.... Found one dynajet kit, but no pods. May just go to advance and find some cheap ones with similar diameter....
Either way what have you guys done and or recommend?

Secondly I want to get some progressive springs, cant find any on ebay either... I remember that virago springs are a good cheaper upgrade.... no?

Any other engine mods worth doing while i have the motor out for cleaning and inspection? Like putting on a different head (ie 650 or 900) for higher compression?

85 max 700 by the way.

This is what I did for pods. I need to rejet but it still runs good.

If you look here and go to "fuel system parts" you'll find pods under the filter section and go under the miscellanious carb parts to find the elusive hitachi carb jets .
I have pods and a 4 into 1 and am running 43 idle jets and 118 mains with the mixture screws turned out about 1/2 turn more than the factory setting

Race-Tech* has a variety of springs for each bike; with their help you'll select the proper spring rate for you and the way you ride before spending any money. Their spring prices are about the same as a set from Progressive.

Getting a set of fork springs second-hand might save you a bit of money, but there's a good chance the springs that you buy that way won't be what you need. Adding more preload to compensate for a too-soft spring won't help much.

    * Our bikes aren't listed on their web page, so you'll need to contact them to find out their recommended spring for you.

The 650 and 750 heads are essentially the same as yours, so there would be little to gain. A 900 head on your bike, if it would bolt up correctly, would result in a bit less compression, but you'd gain slightly larger valves in the process. A good 900 head would be tough to find.

If you really want to step the power up without any downsides, get one of these and slip it into your 700s frame.

Hopefully I won't be taking this thread too off topic, but I think my question relates. When you are "re-jetting" a carb, do you typically only change the fuel jets and leave the air jets alone? The reason I ask is because I've had a nightmare of a time finding STOCK air jets for my bike, so I've been wondering how anyone re-jets if you have to change those.

Lowlife, thanks for that site.... lots of great stuff. But what diameter should the boot be? I didnt see where you said theres a hitachi specific.... also i have the mikunis, not the hitachis.... but since the design is basically copied im assuming the diameter is the same....

And bosozuku... how much do those racetech springs run before I give them a call?

Yes, only the fuel-metering jets are changed. Generally only the main jet size and needle height are adjusted. A few jet kits I've used required a large change in float level as well.

I've bought three sets of springs from them so far, the last time about 5 years ago, for my 650. With shipping, they were about $90.00 then. My guess on a current price is ~a C-note, but it's money well spent.

Send them an e-mail, listing what/how you ride and how much you weigh with riding gear on.

To increase compression I would just have the head shaved 5 thousandths of an inch. Really helped my bike. For fork springs check www.mawonline.com

Right now, I have the stock combination resonator under t he frame of the bike, but the cans are hollow.... So its pretty free flowing, Ill be doing the pods, and most likely shaving the head .005".

Whats jets should I start off with? 43 idle and 120 mains?
