Hi, I noticed when removing my front tire it didnt have the bolt that clamps sideways on the forks, I don't know how better to describe this so I hope someone knows what I mean. It is supposed to be the first bolt you remove.

I was trying to find a size for this bolt so I could get a replacement.

Any help is appreciated thanks Much.

It's called a pinch bolt and it's important.

I think it's M8, but don't know the length or pitch. The correct pitch will be important for the torque spec.

That pinch bolt would be the following part
    97013-08045-00 Yamaha BOLT

It is an M8 X 45 mm bolt. You can get a replacement at any hardware store. You will also need a flat washer, and nut to go along with the bolt.

Install the bolt from the top with the washer, and nut on the bottom.

Axle pinch bolt torque 14.5 ft lb.

Yeah, if you don't put that in, your axle is gonna wobble to-and-fro.........you know what will wobble next--

***the italics and bolding are mine*** Carl raises an important point.

And he still doesn't. DO NOT assume a "hardware store" bolt to be the same thread pitch; quite often they ARE NOT.

Hold off until somebody can give you the correct thread pitch as well. I can do it in about 4 hours from right now, when I get home to my books and bikes.

    Ouch.

You need to learn about XJ4Ever, our resident parts supplier. Click the logo/link in the site banner at upper right, PM member chacal or send an email to 'info AT XJ4Ever dot com.'

His catalog is in the "XJ4Ever - Supporting Vendor" forum. Without him, very few of us would be able to pull this off.

You'll go broke buying parts from the dealer.

    92990-08100-00 WASHER, SPRING $0.60 (1 EA)
    95333-08600-00 NUT $1.85 (1 EA)

    Total $5.62

    Fastenal: (Grade 8 equivalent)
