I have a 82 turbo that needs a valve adjustment and maybe cam chain tightening. I also have a intermintant starting issue. Some times it turns over sometimes it don't but it always push starts. Carbs were totaly rebuilt last year. Looking for a someone that does this type of work in their garage as I don't have 60.00 per hr for repairs.

Had a friend take a look at it and he said the starter silonoid is bad. He also listened to it and just smiled and said "bet ya i a 100 dollars its your head pipes ratteling" we pulled one and sure enough the inner wall of the pipe was loose. I never knew they were double walled. So now I have to find a set of head pipes.

Where abouts in MN? I don't know anything about the turbo, but if you know how to work a screw driver and have the manual we could probably figure it out...

I know a tiny place in Anoka that does a huge business in servicing 80's bikes. A real hole in the wall, very busy, but very good, Reasonable prices too.

rhettb I see you have a maxim X. I sold one to a gal from the metro about 3 years ago loved the bike and should have kept it. I had it custom painted with ghost flames was a real sharp bike.

I am staright south of Rochester about 35 miles, in Le Roy, as south as you can go before you is in Iowa.

Back to the bike, the cam chain is an auto tensioner isn't it? I am used to the 750 wich is. The valves are pretty easy to do, just a bit time consuming. Did you read through bigfitz do it yourself guide? If I wasn't so busy I could do it for you but don't think I have the time. You are also probably about 3 hour drive away.

just got it a month ago! Weather's been nice enough to let me put about thirty miles on it! I'm in the middle of a valve job now, it was fast before, if i do the valves right i can't imagine what it will be like. I'll post pics when she's back together, it's a really nice cobalt blue...

Also, I live about 30 minutes south of Minneapolis, i think about an hour and a half from you.
