I am resurrecting an 81 550 SECA. I have gotten it to run, but not quite nice enough to ride yet. One of its many owners did some crimping and soldering to the wires. I found these two wires, both black with white stripe, that do not connect to anything. The one by my index finger comes from the Ignitor, the other from the relay on the upper right of the pic. Can anyone tell me what these should connect to? Thanks for the help!

    Sidestand relay ?

The way these bikes are set up. if you have the sidestand down, you need to have the clutch pulled in to start.

Or else be in neutral, of course.

If your sidestand is down, as soon as you put the bike into gear, it cuts out.

It's not clear from your pic what the other wires are - but my sidestand relay has a black and white wire going to the igniter. (Other colours are black, red/white, and blue/yellow).

Without digging out the diagram, I suspect those are the sidestand switch leads, or are related to the safety circuit and the bypassing thereof. That relay back there is the sidestand relay.

PM me with your email address and I can send you the wiring, circuit and cable routing diagrams.

There's supposed to be a "tool tray" there that the TCI unit and fusebox mount to.

Here's an underseat pic of a 550 Seca, (with the fusebox lid removed:)

Damn Fitz is that your bike with the original fuse box? I'm surprised you haven't changed it out.

Look closely, Grasshopper; it has been rebuilt with new clips made of real metal. (From Radio Shack.)
