Top-End Almost Complete...Am I missing anything?

    So far I've...
    Disassembled engine down to crankcase
    Removed,decarbonized and re-located 3 good pistons. Replaced #3 piston and rings. Deep Creep Seafoam is the lick.
    Cleaned studs + new sheathing on exhaust studs. (except the oil transfer stud)
    Cleaned, measured and relocated block + new gaskets and seals
    Removed and decarbonized valves springs and seats
    Decarbonized combustion chambers and cleaned head
    Lapped and relocated valves + new stem seals
    Relocated head to block + new gaskets, seals and copper washers on oil transfer studs.
    Torque wrenched all to mfg. specs.
    All went well, was kind of nervous for a minute... the buckets did not seem to want to reseat...used lots of oil...worked them around the respective follower and got them in. I had to walk away a couple times, my fingers were starting to go numb. I'll do a more detailed write-up when I'm finished to let you all know what "issues" I had with doing this...I can tell you now, it's mostly nerves and making sure I do it correctly and don't "force" anything. I was concerned about bending a valve when I first rotated the crankshaft after relocating the cams and chain to reset the timing. It reset perfectly.
    I re-checked the valve clearances and have two shims that need to be replaced.
    Next up...
    Reading threads...I've read the manual...on "re-starting a newly build engine".
    Compression check and syncing carbs.
    Still to come...Replacing clutch friction disc plates, replacing signal unit, cleaning chrome, paint touch-ups and finding a right cover.
    The thread with the "baking-soda blaster" made out of a sobe bottle is pretty slick. Wish I had one.
    Question...Is there anything that I might have missed here??? Please let me know before I try to restart this engine and have a mess on my hands. I don't have a digital camera...yet, so I'm taking pics "old school". Yeah, Walgreen's disc and downloading. I will post plenty of pics of this entire build in the near future. Til' then...better wrenching means happy riding!

    Thanks, but much of the credit goes to this Forum. Without it I would not have tried it. The manual shows a bit, but the detailed credit, both visual and written goes here. So thank all of you for all the support and help.

    and stagger the ring end gaps?

    Checked clearance and ovality on bores. I have to be honest, didn't hone the bores, did stagger the rings. Did I mess up?

    Generally speaking, it's a good idea to lightly hone the bores so that the new rings can seat; kind of like turning brake rotors.

    Only time will tell if it's going to be an issue or not; it will depend on what shape the bore with the new rings was in.
