Hey been looknig through this site for 2-3 years now but finally decided to join a little while ago.
Got my 1100 3 years ago just about totally neglected. The PO had it for 5-6 years and done the less than the bare minimum to keep it running.
Was roadworthy, but just barely, second gear was gone, rear tire was bald, electrical system needed an overhaul, and cleaning. Not to mention wouldn't even move under it's own power under 3000rpm. Got it home and WOW, where to start!!!
After wrestling with the carbs (2-3hrs) finially got the little so and so's off :x
Cleaned em (understatement), and re-installed, and voila, she purrs, the second joy of my XJ was a tranny job, oh boy, did I ever enjoy that LOL  , but about 9 hours and she was upright, and going through the gears. would never have attempted that without the complete teardown, and rebuild instruction on this site THANKS.A couple electrical issues, but mostly caused by dirty connectors, cleaned greased, good to go!
with new tires, paint, and oil changes, I have had a very enjoyable experience with my 1100. Never would have done it without the info on this site  :D

    Welcome from Denver.
I was basically in the same boat with my 82 750, except for the tranny part and without these guys and their guidance I never would have made the bike roadworthy as quickly as I did. It's amazing how PO's neglect their rides and try to make it sound like the bike is pristine (not), but with this site it makes repair and restore so much easier.

    Cheers,
    Massimo
