    Well guys the I thought the Turbo was ready for riding, and it was, really. New tires, fork springs, fork seals, tapered bearings, and yes Fitz, new rear brakes, worn not delaminated, yada, yada, yada. Had completed several test rides amounting to around 170 miles total. Last Sunday went riding with oilgheadron and he rode my Turbo for a bit and commented that it didn't seem to have as much boost as his. Wednesday I went for a ride and noticed that I had NO boost. Went through check list of everything that I could find here from previous posts but still no boost. Tried to remove the left side muffler to see if the turbo was spinning...good luck with that. Removed the right (compressor) side muffler and duct to discover that the compressor impeller is eaten up. WHAT? YOU COULDN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP IF YOU TRIED, I PROMISE. I found a hose clamp in the compressor side duct not to mention the remnants of a mud dobber nest in the right exhaust, both I am sure ate away at the blades.

    So now I am looking for the impeller for the compressor side of the turbocharger. All other components seem to be okay, just need an impeller.

    Anyone have a spare or know of a source for one I would love you long time.

    By the way, even slightly sick (for a Power-Up Turbo), his Turbo did pretty darn well against my '79 CBX in a very brief roll on in the first couple of gears. And the CBX runs very well.

    Now that I am poking around the internet looking for an impeller I find that on the compressor side it is called a wheel not an impeller.

    Actually the intake side IS an impeller and the exhaust side is a turbine.....now that's cleared up, we needs to find you a used turbo. Look over on the "other" forum.....there are some VERY serious turbo guys there that might be able to help you out.

    I guess I was fortunate that I had removed everything before any reassembly took place. I did however run into a "low boost" (5psi) condition that was caused by a combination of tiny leaks at the clamps and weak coils. Once everything was tightened up and my electrical issues resolved, it was back to my 17-18 psi.

    here's the link to the other board;

    You can also call the guys at Gpop shop...tell them what you have and what you need, they are VERY helpful and know their stuff!!

    Check the Milwaukee Craigslist....I seem to remember a guy in...Grafton or maybe saukville with a whole bunch of SECA turbo parts that he was selling. Not sure if he'd be willing to ship, but it's not too far from me...I'd pick the stuff up, box it up for you...
    Let me know

    Thanks guys! I just placed a wanted post on the tmioa forum. I have a couple of numbers to call from Craig's list. One is in SC the other is a 207 area code, can't remember what city the add was in at the moment.

    I sent an email to gpop. They responded that the part is probably not available but if I can give them the part number for the turbo charger they will look for me.

    Bill is supposed to pull the turbo off of the yellow bike in the morning to see what if anything is still useable on it.

    I told him that if the impeller looked like a shark had been gnawing on it you probably wouldn't be interested since you already have one of those.

    I wouldn't switch just the impeller since they are very carefully balanced to endure 210,000 RPM's....carefully mark both the turbine and the impeller at 12 oclock sharp so when you reasemble it on the shaft, you can line it up perfectly, otherwise, you'll have to send it to a place like Gpops for balancing. After you mark it, remove the huge clip then the impeller comes off after removing the nut, the turbine doesn't come off the shaft which is why it has that funky connector. I think the turbo is a TC03 but a TC04 will work and in fact the rebuild kit is the same. Take the number off the housing and call Gpop and talk to ...dang, I forget his name...maybe Jerry? let him know it comes off a Yamaha 650 turbo. for some reason he seemed to like our bikes and he seemed to go out of his way to help me last year when I was learning how to rebuild mine. I even emailed him on a Sunday cause I was stuck and he called me back!

    Thanks Jeff. So if the turbo here has both the impeller and turbine that are good I should get both and replace them as a set so that we keep the balance?

    Yes, Absolutely! Then, listen very carefully as you get into boost for imbalance....and even then, you might not hear it. Best to spring for a rebuild kit or in the least, replace the bearings on the shaft. They actually look like piston rings...there was a guy on the other board that bought 50 from someone in China....i bought a couple to help defray his investment but I don't know well they worked, or not. You might want to check out his post...it's only a few(6-8) months old so he might still be answering.
