***PARTING OUT 1981 XJ750***

Im parting out a 1981 XJ750 Seca or take whole bike for $800.

Motor has been bored a bit. Never got to ride it but the motor is good. Compression was done and was the same across the 4 cylinders with in spec. The frame is a hardtail with no title (hence why Im selling it). The tranny seems to shift smoothly but like I said I never got to ride it. The carbs have been cleaned very well with a carb kit installed. I just put them on the bike. I have most items that I took off the bike before I started hacking the rear frame. Also have the gas tank. 2 dents and will need a liner kit. The petcock needs to be rebuilt. Gauge cluster worked before I disconnected it. The bike started and ran no problem so it seems all the ignition parts were working correctly. I also have a pair of maxim forks that I was going to swap over. They need to be rebuilt I think. They had some fork juice leak during shipping. Below are some pix of the bike as she sits. The blue tank & handlebars are NOT for sell.

Sill parting this bike out? I think that rear fender might work for me.

 

I might be interested in the tank. Do you have a picture of the two dents? How big? Repairable? How much are you looking to get for the tank?

 

I really need a good set of carb holders!

Kind of sucks when people advertise a bike they're going to "part out or sell whole" and then after a lot of people ask repeatedly about some parts, decide to keep the bike..................

What is the orange tank off of? Did you think with a fe modifications you could get it to lay flat? Lower the front mounting points maybe? How tight was it? I'd love to see some more pictures of it fitting if you have them.

As you can tell, I'm considering/looking for new tanks for my xj650

 

I'd like to say it did fit but it didnt work. The tank would lay down ok in the front but the back would not. I had about 2.35in of lift in the rear which you wouldn't think would make or break the look but it does. The tank is off a Suzuki 185GT. You will have a better time with a Kawi 650-750D tank. Its the blue tank. Its a little smaller but its about as direct fit as you can get. The are all over e-bay.

As for the sell 'hogfiddles' Yes Im taking it off the market for now to try and get a title for it so when I do sell it I can sell as a complete running bike. The sell price when it does go back up will be slightly more. Sorry you feel ill about my post but please keep your negativity to yourself next time.
