Its prob been discussed on here but haven't seen it.

What are the main differences between the different Hitatchi Carb Models of the XJ's? Ive just inherited 2 more racks of carb's and am now curious as there are a few visual differences from my current ones.

    Thanks!

http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=3649.html I'm fairly sure th numbers are on th carbs somewhere.

    Thanks for the reply,

Internally they appear the same, from what I know they were of an XJ650H but have different Jets and needles.

The only differences I can see are the float bowls look completely different and have the following on them:

No 1 float bowl by the screw has C1 Embossed 2 & 3 have C4 then the 4th has C1

After getting some autosol on the bottom of the float bowl I was able to read the following on them:

    HSC32-14
    SG9 00
    1602

the outer 2 bowls have a minor difference than the other two. I will try get some photos.

The other difference is the location of the drain screws etc on the bottom, its all in the middle of the float bowl compared to my other one.

I know all this makes no difference to the operation of them I was just curious as I was going to rebuild one of these ones and use them.

There is a difference on the thread pitch on the Pilot Screw of early "Maxim" carbs, so watch for that, also note ALL jet sizes, including AIR jets, main "slider-needles", even the length of the "needle" for the floats may be different -

    Don't mix things up ! 8O
