ok , so i ordered 2 sets of led turn signals for my 86 maxim 700, when i got em in and on they dont flash and the flasher relay buzzes abnormally . they didnt come with any relays , so i ordered 4 led turn signal relays off of ebay... from hong kong . 0 instructions ... so i hooked em up inline with the turn signals and the buzzing stopped . now im getting the regular turn signal flash noise cycle ... but my turn signals do nothing at all ..... but my damned headlight and tail lights flash now .... wth ? anyone had similar .. im running low on light now and will dig deeper in tomorrow ... just figured id throw it out to the pro's and see if i could skip a few steps on the shakedown

ya need resistors on the + line to the blinker.....leds wont load up the blinker box,,,they dont draw enough current

    The stock flasher system requires 27W bulbs in each socket to trip the flasher;

If you swapped the actual flasher relay itself (there's only one) then you'll need to rely on the instructions you didn't get.

GENERALLY speaking, the system won't flash without the proper load; most aftermarket system also behave that way although said load may be different.

Or install a electronic LED flaser instead od resistors.

Can we get some more details on the resistors?

1st, do you mean to just run them entirely on the +line? all the pics on ebay illustrate them with one tail on the "-" and one on the "+"...

2nd, is there a particular wat & ohm rating that is needed? ebay offers 50w/6ohm and 25w/10ohm...

3rd, is this simple resistor all that is needed to make LED signal operate properly? If so, why have I not done this long ago...

SIMPLE RESISTER TO LOAD THE BLINKER BOX....LOOK AT YOUR MANUAL AND SEE WHAT YOUR BIKE REQUIRES BUT I DO LIKE THIS IDEA

"mlew"]Or install a electronic LED flaser instead od resistors.

THE BLINKER RELAY RELIES ON LOAD TO MAKE IT WORK
LEDS DRAW MEXT TO NOTHING CURRENT,,,,,THUS THE NEED FOR RESISTANCE,,,,CREATE LOAD

you can flip 2 wires on the flasher socket black and brown i think it was, and install and electronic flasher from any auto parts store (NOT a mechanical flasher) and you lights will blink fine.

and you wont be wasting valuable electronic load on resistors

Cool, sounds simple enough. I'll have to give this a try soon. There seem to be more options with LED signals.

Also, I put a cheap set of flashers on to get rid of the big old ones. The little china jobs only use a 24w bulb. Drawing the lower wattage does not allow them to blink if the bike is running below 1800rpm. As you can image, this leaves my signals lit solid at traffic lights or waiting for traffic to make a turn. Once the rmps are back up they continue flashing normally, auto cancel works too. I have yet to find the proper size replacement bulbs too. Thats not too bad though considering I get each pair for $10.

I'm almost certain I looked for "electronic flasher"s at auto zone some time ago...

ok today i got 4 12v26w8ohm resistors , they are 4 wire units with a diode so polarity wont matter , ill be hooking them up inline with the turn signals , the black - and green / yellow + in the headlight and under the seat .... but what to do with the blue ( self cancel id assume ) in the headlight ?

Personally, I like "Yamaha-looking" (FJ/FZ/XJR style) signals that aren't as clunky as the originals. Even so, the aftermarket units came with too-low wattage bulbs but they were easily replaced with 1156's.

LED signals are cute and all; but quite honestly almost every one I've ever seen cannot be seen in bright sunlight.

Do you want your turn signals to be visible to CAGE drivers; or are they just there because they have to be?

I want mine to BE SEEN.

If you use this flasher would you only need the one, or would you need one per bulb like the inline resistors?
