Lowering a little

    whats the best way to lower a 81 Maxim 650 a couple of inches without changing anything too drastically? I am around 5.5 and have often wanted just a little better balance when standing at a traffice light etc. :(

    I lowered the forks by disassemblying them and cutting the spacer at the top of the fork 1.5" then adding a new 2" spacer on the dampening rod above the spring:

    I also cut about 1.5 inches off the coils on my rear shocks, but I know others have used shorter shocks off ebay or honda rebel shocks.

    Sorry, didn't realize the link was broken. Here's one for an XS650, same concept just different fork setup than the XJ. And he cut the spring, where I cut the spacer that's at the top of the XJ forks.
