sorry for the hastey post guys as I am at work. Just talked to a guy parting an '80 750 maxim. The bike is 99% there. I don't have time to search the topic so I'm just gonna ask?

    What can be swapped out?

How does the motor swap work out?

Will the front ends swap ok?

thanks guys! back to work for this guy...

    Direct swaps to 650 maxim:

    tank, tank rubber mounts, petcock
Carbs - if the jets are replaced with the necessary sizes
    rims/tires/rear brakes
    frame reflectors
fenders will interchange but the rear light is different
the front fender is a slightly different shape/contour but will fit.
    round turnsignals
    swingarms
    rear punkin

handlebars, controls, gauges, depending on the year, and depending on what triple tree top you have

    swaps for upgrades:

forks to go to dual disc setup - take the WHOLE system right from the master cylinder on down.

Engine - swappable, but there are some things that need to be done. ie: tci, mounts, pipes, etc....... If you have trouble finding the info, PM me and I'll give you a more detailed list of what you need to do.

Windjammer fairings will fit, and the 750 mount will work on the 650.

That'll get you a short idea

Houston we have a problem here!!
If the bike IS an '80 750. That would make it a Seca 750. You will deffinately need to look deeper into it to determine what will interchange onto the 650 Maxim.

The seca engine was a solid mount engine. Not the rubber cushion mount on the maxim.
The fuel tank is styled to tie into the side covers. Not seperate like on the maxim
Front Brakes, and Forks are NOT interchangeable due to the anti-dive.

FYI: The 750 Maxim is an 82-83 only bike in the US.
Square lights, and gauges with modular handle bars will be an 82.
Round lights, and gauges with round tube handle bar will be an 83.

There are other differences, but those are the easiest, and quickest way to tell them apart.

Double check the year on that bike before proceeding with a purchase.

Will the cylinder heads interchange between an 82 xj750 and an 82 xj650?
