What is the best polish/buffing compound to use on a freshly wet-sanded paint job?

I sprayed the bike black, clearcoated, then sanded out the orange peel with 2000... Now I can't get a good shine out if it.
I'm using some rubbing compound and that ain't working, so I tried turtle wax over the top, and now it looks like a dull piece of plastic... Or an allready faded paintjob...

Any miracle product out there? Or good step by step procedure to polishing up a wet-sanded finish?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm using 3m fine cut rubbing compound, then a couple of coats of turtle wax platinum, a big of elbow grease and some buffing, and the results are amazing, it surprised me....BTW, you wouldn't happen to have another seca tank like you got :D

What you should have done has got you trapped ...

You should have wet-sanded the Black ... got the Black all smoothed-out and then Cleared over the sanded-out Black to bring the luster back-out.

Now ... you need to prep that clear coat ... for ANOTHER application of CLEAR.

And when the Clear is dried and cured ... buff-out the Clear with 3M Classic Finish

I'll have to give that a try then, hopefully with better results.

Naw, sorry I don't have another seca tank lyin around. But I DO however think it would go great with your new windscreen / headlight setup... So I hope someone else pipes in with one... I'd tell you to go ask Rieds, but I'd be afraid they'd come steal mine lookin for one, LOL.

You know, that was my initial plan. Spray the black, wet sand it, and THEN clear (and then wet sand & Buff). BUT the guy at the paint supply place told me not to bother sanding the black!!! Dammit...

I'm planning on spraying another coat of clear though. I'm gonna sand the wax and polish off again, then apply some vinyls and shoot clear over top.

But I'm still worried that the final coat of clear won't come to the wet-shine I'm looking for.

Seems you two guys like the 3M stuff, so I'll give it a shot. Plus the (mega expensive) turtle wax platnum.

If your black doesn't look good no amount of clear coat will fix the problem.

I'd strip the wax off. Re-do the black, sand and polish the black then clearcoat and polish.

Wax is just to protect it after it looks right.

I should have been more specific...
It looks great before I wet-sand the clear, my problem is just that the clearcoat has orange peel, and when I sand it I cant get it to buff back out to the original shine.

When it is wet it looks how I want it (during wet sanding), but the compounds I have been using make it look like dull plastic.

I used swirl remover on my clear, buffed it with a cheapo WallyWorld $15 buffer. Hi gloss!

Well the last coat of clear doesn't have as much orange peel in it, so I'm gonna wait a week or so and then try just buffing and waxing.

If the orange peel still remains and continues to bug me then I'll wet sand again and see if I can't get a better finish out of it this time.

Looks pretty shiny to me.. I can see what appears to be a garage door in it.

Haha, Yeah that'd be the rafters in my shed (the paint booth) and the lights.
It's nice and shiney, no doubt. The problem is getting the shine BACK after sanding out the orange peel.

I'm leaving it for now, but in a couple weeks I'll try and buff it out.
