Well i just fired the 550 up synced the carbs used the colortune and the bike runs like a new one. But the front brakes just don't stop very well I put a new master cylinder on it rebuilt the caliper and put a ss line on it the pads looked new so I did not replace them. The lever feels firm but it just dosent stop very well, Could there still be air in the system or should i just go ahead and replace the pads.

You REALLY need to replace the pads.

NEW new master, the correct one, or a "new to you" one off eBay?

Also: Did you "refinish" the rotor? And did you check thickness and check for warpage?

And of course, there could also be air in the line.

All of these should be addressed.

Guys, what's your method for 'refinishing' (deglazing) the rotor?

The Master cylinder is from Chacal so i am ordering a new set of pads. The Rotor is in Spec. and not warped. How do you refinish one of these rotors?
Once again thanks for all your help.

I just take some 1500 or 2000 grit wet/dry and wet-sand it. You want to do it in a non-directional manner, which means don't go around the rotor in the same direction as the rotor goes through the pads. I go about a 45 deg. angle from the inside edge.

    I'll see if I have a photo.

Thank you I will deglaze it before I install the new pads.

You can also use a Scotchbrite disc on your drill or Dremel; the main thing is the "non-directional" part.

Once properly broken in, the new pads should help immensely.
