Yes those will work. I put straight drag bars on my 82 xj650 and it worked fine with the stock cables and lines but I did put shorter ones on it just to make it look better.

hey Zippy, I'm pretty sure I have the exact bars on my bike. They work great. I love them.

You may or may not need to re-route some of the cable. Nothing complicated, only takes a few minutes.

You will need to pop the tank off and re-route some cables; and the front brake hose is going to be WAY too long. However, if you haven't upgraded to stainless lines yet (or replaced the dangerously old originals) you can order a custom upper and get one the right length.

You may end up wanting to replace the clutch cable as well; it depends on how the "re-routing" works out. Just be careful not to introduce any tight bends in any of the cables.

And when the brakes force you to rebuild them (and they will) you can make it look "factory" with a proper upper hose.

I was planning on replacing the brake lines anyways, so no big deal!
Does anyone know a safe rear wheel clearence? Im cuttinh the frame &making my own seat. I also have a custom tail light im using. So how much space do you think ill need between the rear wheel and the tail light/seat? The stock setting is about 5 3/8in. Im only 150have lbs, so I can't imagine that ill use all of that space

Good deal. I put lower bars on both of my Secas (the 550 Maxim and Seca came with the SAME handlebar) and the excess brake line had nowhere to go. A custom upper makes it look like the bike came with the low bars.

Determining how much clearance before the fender eats the NEW tire you're putting on:

-Your rear shocks come apart. If you compress the spring slightly, you should be able to displace the retainer from the top of the shock body and release the spring.

-Take both shocks off (support rear wheel so it doesn't drop.)

-"De-spring" one shock, and reinstall just it.

-Gently lower the bike back onto its wheels and the springless shock will fully compress.

-See how much space you have, and allow at least an inch for road debris, stones, etc.
