New to forum and xjs

    Hello all i am new to the forum and new to the xj family of bikes. i will be getting a well taken care of 83 maxim 650 next week and i would like to bob it but i dont want to do any major modifications( like to stick to mostly bolt ons if possible) i was just looking for a few ideas or if anyone has done it on the cheap and without alot of modification please send me some build info or specs. i appreciate your time and all the help and look forward to many years with my xj!!!!

    To build a bobber you dont bolt stuff on but yet GRIND stuff off! good luck!!

    What are your fabricating and electrical skills like? Have you worked on bikes before. Ditto what T-type said, with a bobber you are cutting and modifying things.
    There are quite a few bobber threads on here use the search button, you'll get plenty of results.
    Let's see some pics of the bike before you do anything to it.
    "Well taken care of" is a relative term. It can mean cosmetically, mechanically, or just plain old regular oil changes and check the tire pressure. If it still has the original brake lines on it then it's not well taken care of. check the dates on the tires too, if they're more than 4-5 years old it's not well taken care of.
    Just a few things you should look for.
