I'm going to be in the market for a new rear tire reasonably soon, and am completely illiterate when it comes to tries, tire size, tire specs, good brands of tires, and basically anything tire related.

So, from the little research I have done, I think that the stock tire size for my bike XJ650 maxim '82 would be 130/90/16. Assuming this is correct I have found a couple of good deals on what appear to be good tires.

Note, these are not the 'deals' I have found, just websites with decent pics and info on the tires I am looking at.

First tire, I can get this tire for around $50

Second tire, I can get this one for around $40

So, can anyone confirm the tire size, and have any thoughts on these tires?

If, when you get to ShowLow there is a shop called White Mountain Performance run by a man named Tom who does one heck of a lacing job.
That's where I'll get mine next time.

I know of White Mountain Performance, though I've never really been there. Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is 'lacing?' Would that be like mounting the tire on the rim?

Lacing is the art of putting spokes on a rim and hub assembly. Don't worry the maxim wheels are not in need of lacing :D

    Yup 130/90/16.

KanesSon, since your in Pheonix check out Bob's used Motorcycle Parts on Elwood, between 7th St. & 7th Ave. Go in the entrance and around to the left and take the stairs up to the 2nd floor, that floor is nothing but tires. He has just about every type you can think of, and sometimes the price is cheaper then the mail order places, or at least the same, but you don't have to pay the shipping.
I just picked up a new white letter Dunlop K491 Elite 2 for my XJ1100 there for $122. They are all in order by rim size, so look for the 16s.
