I have a 80 xj 650 g with a 4 into 1 header that was smashed on the bottom by PO. I recently ordered a used 4 into 1 header off ebay off of a xj 750 seca. It bolted to the cylinder head ok, but to my disappointment it exits right in front of the rear tire. Is there a y pipe that this header hooks to for dual exhaust? Or can i even use this header at all with mufflers. I was hopeing i didnt have to make one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Bigmeany,
What brand is it? I have an MAC 4-into-1 header that goes under the bike and exits to the right of the bike at an angle to except the muffler canister. Maybe you got one for the wrong bike model. It shouldn't go back all the way to the rear wheel.

Not sure what brand it is PainterD. It is about 9-10 inches directly in front of the rear tire. It looks like however you could squeeze in a y pipe. I just wanted to see if anyone else had something similar.

Is it possible to cutting the pipe down after the collector and making it shorter? If that's not possible, you can always get an elbow from an auto store and use just one muffler instead of trying to fit a Y-pipe in there. Just a thought.

It comes out there as to allow you to keep the centerstand functioning, also it sounds like a 3 piece pipe, not 2 , so from there, there should be an slight S-shape pipe that will take it around and up and under to the right passenger foot peg where the muffler should mount to it.

If you didn't get all the piping for this, you may want to check to see if you can buy just the intermediate pipe from MAC or Jardine, they are just about the only one's making pipes still for these old bikes, unless it's an old pipe from someone like Kerker who aren't making pipe's for these bikes anymore.
    Good Luck
