Its so hard to find those infamous side covers for my 82 maxim 650. I see them online but they are a little salty so I was wondering if anyone has created a cool replacement for these. I have seen some people use diamond plate instead but i dont really like that look.

Just looking for ideas really so post away!

I have both side covers in my basement. What's considered salty?

Im interested in seeing how people went about doing this too. I want to see how you mount them though. I only have the left side :( need something for the right.

I made mine out of aluminum. Actually it was aluminum signs I used (old construction signs) It cut and shapes easily and is very strong and easy to work with. Sanded, primered and and painted. I think they turned out very well.

Back in the day in shop class we had these wood forms and we would hammer copper or aluminum into the forms to make trays and bowls and stuff. I have been wondering/thinking about making some forms and hammering some out of copper. I think it would look awesome. Trouble is, I don't have enough time to complete this right now. Might be an idea for someone who has more time on their hands.
