    Hi

    I am new to XJbikes.com

I have a '84 XJ750 Maxim. all my lights work on the bike except my signal lights. They turn on but come on as a solid light, is that a wiring problem?, Do I need to change the wiring harness? or is it something else? If it happens to be a wire what color would that wire be? 8O

    Cheers!

It is likely a connection problem, unless you or someone else have installed incorrect bulbs.

The stock system relies on the current draw from 2 X 27W bulbs in order to flash.

Loose wiring, corroded sockets, etc., can prevent the bulbs from drawing full wattage even though they light up.

Doubtful you need to change the wiring harness; more like open up the headlight shell and check for loose wires, etc; same at the tail where everything plugs into the harness.

Locate the flasher relay and check all of its connections.

It also pays to pop the lenses off the blinkers themselves and clean/inspect the bulb sockets.

Turn signal wires are usually dark green, "Chocolate" and the ground wires are black. Without digging out a book I don't remember which side is green and which is "chocolate." (Yamaha doesn't call it brown; there ARE brown wires as well.)
