    Last month we thought my wife’s XJ750 was sold to a co-worker of my son-in-law some purchased an XJ1100J for my wife. The PO had done some modifications over the years that he had it. Painted everything black, put a scoop on the front of the engine, Shoei faring and cut down the handle bars.

    I fixed the brakes, rebuilding the calipers and master cylinders. Synced the carbs and replaced the tires (The front I swapped an XS11 wheel, tire was already mounted). I took the bike for a ride with some friends from work Friday for a lunch run.

    I would have to say the bike ran and handled very well. I was able to keep up with the sports bikes in the twisties and accelerated just as fast as they did. I would have to say the mods the PO did mad the bike handle well and fun to ride…I just don’t like to bend over to ride and I don’t like the look (more importantly my wife like the stock look of these bikes) so I am putting the bike back to stock as much as possible.

    It sounds like the hard stuff is taken care of. That bike looks like it has been some places, look at the muffler!

    If anyone can make it look good, you can Sir.

    These are the changes I maid this weekend;

    Removed the fairing, changed the handle bars and the gauges (speedometer was acting up). I will be pulling the front scoop (sold it to a member on XS11.com) and changing the seat ( I will recover this one for the XJ I have in the shed). Then it's Clean the carbs and valve shim check. Last will be the cosmetic. Yes the mufflers are in bad shape, I almost didn't buy the bike when the PO told me the story of how they got that way 8O I'm plesently suprised at how straight the bike runs.

    I still have a long way to go.

    Just noticed the front wheel is from some other bike. No big deal, but it looks a little off. Oops... just saw that it was off a XS11.

    Those mufflers look like they were removed and used for a game of baseball. :lol: What's the story, don't leave us hanging? :lol:

    He said that he was headed down a side street at 35 mph and didn't realize the road turned left abruptly ended up laying it down hitting the curb and the bike ended up doing several summersaults before coming to a rest.

    The PO also claimed that the bike would do 148 mph (he got a ticket for excessive speed and lost his license). I know these bikes top speed is about 130 mph. I'm sure he laid it down more than once, both sides are beat up badly. I can tell you the bike seems faster than my 78 XS1100.

    Ouch! 148? Are sure you want this for your wife after the fixes or for yourself? 8)
