Anyone know where to get heat resistant vinyl tubing?

I once saw someone mention using heat resistant vinyl tubing in making a YICS tool. Anyone know where to find it? Has anyone had problems using rubber fuel line and it melting?

 

I've heard of using a thin metal dowel and a oily rag but never tubing. I've eave heard of just using a oily rag shoved all the way through the YICS hole to block the passages. I have the proper tool but can count on having to replace one or more orings each time I use it. I've only used it 4-5 times, once for my turbo and then used it a few more times for friends but it eats orings so i'm guessing that your tubing idea might be best to leave on the table. I think I only paid a few dollars for the right tool and I'm sure you could make one for a few bucks....better than leaving a wad of half-melted plastic inside your intake ports.

I ordered a length of heat-resistant tubing online from McMaster-Carr to cut segments from, for my YICS tool. It's come in handy, but what I got still melts. I would order the highest temperature tubing they offer that's still flexible enough to expand.

If I think of it, I'll look up what I ordered last time.

Fuel hose WILL melt.

 

I have everything I need to make a YICS tool--total of about $4.50. However, I am interested in finding the high heat resistant vinyl tubing someone mentioned. Using the rubber gas line will probably mean doing it in stages. Wonder if the rider that used the tool with o-rings replaced them with regular o-rings, or ordered special ones?

 

Try silicone tubing. I have purchased from SiliconeIntakes.com with good success in the past (for other high heat projects).

I actually use a short silicone reducer from silicone intakes as the carb-cylinder intake boot on a 1980 Maico 490 2-stroke dirt bike I restored a few years ago. it takes the heat just fine. I ride this bike hard at the dunes with a paddle in 100 degree heat. Silicone boot still looks new (after you clean the sand off it).

Silicone tubing can handle 600 F continuously, and it is VERY flexible.

I would think that an 8mm or 10mm piece of their thick-walled silicone vacuum tubing would work, but you might have to call and ask them what the outer diameter is, I didn't see the measurement on their site.
