    I have a 1982 xj750 maxim. The first problem is no compression in all clys. I want to check the timing but I don't know the timing marks. I got the bike in boxes so I don't know what has been done to it up to now. there is some sign of oil leek from the head gasket only from the left side. The compression dosen't even read on my gage.

    Double check your gauges, first. But, if you have NO compression, you have a junk engine.

    When the No.-1 Piston is at TDC ... with the Crank Position Indicator lined-up with the Line-up Pointer on the Right Side of the Case adjacent to the Pick-up Coil, ...

    BOTH Cams should have their TIMING MARKS ALIGNED with the respective Pointers on the Cams and Engine.

    Arrows on Cams point to Timing Marks on INBOARD Bearing Caps or Thrust Bearing Bridges.

    Arrows on Cams pointing to Drilled "Dimples" drilled in the Cam which Align with SIGHTING HOLES drilled into the Bearing Caps.

    Also, ... Each CAM is Marked --> "I" - "IN" and "X" - "EX"
    Check for those marks.
