The XJ750R Seca (in the US) was just called an XJ750 across the pond.

The first three letters of your shorty VIN should be as follows (according to what year it is)

    1981 - 5N1
    1982 - 11N
    1983 - 28J
    1984 - 41Y

the only import model they have is the XJ750 E2. is that likley to be what it is?
god how did i grt myself in to this?
i used to ride bike on realy dodgy insurace (pretend 125 fully comp and you could ride other peoples bikes, so i had an xs 400 z450 and a jawa350 registered to my mother!)
    thanks guys.
looking forward to owning it :)

US Seca models: (I've included the starting VIN # for each year)
    1981 - 5G2-000101
    1982 - 5G2-100101
    1983 - 5G2-150101
    Canadian Seca models:
    1981 - 5H2-000101
    1982 - 5H2-100101
    1983 - 5H2-110101
    1984 - 44X-000101

The E2 is probably what it is. First time I've heard of that designation.

WELL the latest is that ebike got back to me with a useless email telling me to ad the details to my insurance online (i had been trying to get them to tell me which modle i should select)
i dont know if the people there had been super nice or wether there was a mistake but when i filled in all my details the cost to add the bike to my insurance was....
    £0.00
i pressed buy there and then!
    i now have a 82HP 130(ish)mph bike for £0.00 insurance :)
    pick it up on Saturday.
