Nice find of the website there, Wirehairs. Although most of us here prefer to do business with Chacal here at XJ4ever, its always nice to know of as many suppliers as possible. BTW-how you comin along with your 550?

It's slow progress, but that's my own fault. It takes a while when everything you are learning is new.. like using a multimeter. :p

Problem is, I think I should probably drain all the gas out of the bike soon, as it was put in at the start of winter, and I don't know if there's any stabil in there... Ugh.

FYI: Their non-marine website http://www.powersportsplus.com was $27 cheaper overall for a 27 part approximate $300 "wish list". I think only 1 or 2 parts were cheaper on boats. Makes no sense, but whatever...

I wasn't all that happy with powersportsplus.com. They had reasonable prices on parts, but I paid almost 20 bucks for shipping on valve shims. I waited almost 3 weeks for them because they were on back order which was not noted anywhere until I had already placed the order... I also ordered a starter seloniod for my shadow and got next day air shipping. They didn't allow me to see how much shipping was until my order was placed, and it still didn't show up for like 3 days. And it didn't fit when it did show... Their shipping prices make no sense, it's not based on weight, but order total...

    I'll stick with chacal!

I agre with Rhett and Bob. These guys don't act very professional. Inconsistent pricing, poor shipping charging policy... no thanks. There are a half dozen other sites that look exactly the same and have the same parts... and a lot of them cheaper than these guys AND they have fair shipping prices that make sense.

Chacal is good for a LOT of stuff, but I always check everywhere. Chacal's got some over-priced stuff and some stuff at a steal. He's also got a lot of options when it comes to going OEM or AM. See: oil filter conversion kit, oil drain plug sizes and magnetic strengths, etc. Plus, if I'm looking for a part, Chacal includes useful, helpful information. He doesn't even need pictures and manages to explain things very well. He's verbose, and digging through stuff can be a pain, at times, but it's well worth it for the wealth of information and parts options in there.

Boatparts.net, Powersports Plus, Bike Bandit--- are all doing the same thing.

They're "passing through" to the Yamaha dealer parts network, and adding their own markup.

I prefer to do THAT portion of my business with Babbitts here in Michigan, and old-school Yamaha dealer that doesn't whack an outrageous markup onto the parts. (They use the SAME Yamaha parts network that the others are using.)

But I only order from them if it's (the rare) something that Len doesn't have.

One other word of caution: Boatparts.net will take your money and then after they can't manage to actually supply the part, some 3 months later, they will eventually refund it.

boulevardsuzuki.com is another one on the "dealer network" that seems to be low priced. Makes you wonder what the ACTUAL price these shops pay before markup. (My 27 part wishlist was only $257 with free ship code - but who knows how long it would take to actually get parts).

len/chacal/XJ4ever is great/informative but as others mentioned prices can be a steal or a little high. It depends on what you want: Quick fast professional service or save a few/many bucks and wait weeks for parts...
