I've lived in NM for 28 years but this is my 1st time to see the rock. I gotta say it's pretty cool. Wish there was some twisties in the vicinity. Next time, maybe Monument Valley. Traffic was light in northwestern New Mexico today so I was able to put down 465 miles in the saddle on the FZ.

Saw a roll over fatality in the Navajo Nation by Gallup on my way. Kind of puts things in perspective. Seize the day!

Awesome pictures. Looks like Shiprock as just as dry as Clovis.

Nice bike. I almost bought a 2005 FZ1 back in 2005 but then I came across a new 2003 Bandit 1200 for about $2500 less so I got that.

28,000 miles on your FZ1 I see. Must have just have the valves checked. :D

    Good pictures too.

Actually, the motor in it now only had 18K on it when I put it in this winter... I did check the valves on the new engine before I installed it. If your interested in knowing more about the project: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=34424.html

That was some good reading ski. As far as the valve clearence check comment I was refering to the 26k recomended intervals, which is nice. My ZX is every 15k which will be in about 3k more miles. I hate to think what that's going to cost. :( And I am not going to attempt that myself, there's so much bodywork I'm not even sure if I've ever seen the engine on that bike. :D

Ok, got it... There are many many FZ1 owners that have reported no valve adjustments for the first 75K or more. I myself will check mine per the recommended interval just for piece of mind if nothing else. Regarding your ZX, once you find out how much a dealer is going to charge, you might want to reconsider doing it yourself. The way I look at it, the more you know about your ride the more harmonious the relationship will be with your stead.
