I want to put forward controls on my 85 xj700. That would be my next modification to a bobber. Im also looking for a nice speedometer.
The only place that I can find universal forward controls is from TC Brothers but it is a little expensive. Can anyone help or give any suggestions. I also have the airbox off my XJ. I don't see myself putting it back on so I guess its up for sale.

I've also been looking at throwing a set on my Maxim but TC Bros is about the cheapest I've found. Depending on how mechanically inclined you are and your access to a metal lathe you could throw a pair together yourself for reasonably cheap...

cafejim, how much do you charge for your forward control fabrications? I have a 85 xj700.

Well Im in the design process for the xj's but as far as the ones I've done (goldwing) 1000 - 1100 we charge around 450 shipped. But it includes foot controls, all linkage, new rear master cylinder, rear stainless braided brake line. 95% of our pieces are cut with a water jet. I put them on our jigs then weld them together and you get your choice or bare metal, chrome, or black powder coat.

As far as xj forward controls i'd say they would be cheaper since it'll be rear drum (no master cylinder, stainless braided lines). Ill know more once I get one set together.

Ok, let me know what you come up with. The $450 is a lil scary. TC Bro charge $200 for a universal set. $150 for the controls and $49 (i think) for the linkage kit.

tc bros recommended the xj650 kit to work for the 700 when I emailed them awhile back.
