Just rebuilt the petcock on my 85 xj700n. Put in on the bike and it pours gas in reserve and on positions. Will pull it off tonight. The seat in the petcock is in perfect shape, so I can only assume that the diaphragm is somehow stuck. Anyone had this problem and can offer any suggestions at to what to look for? Seems like a simple rebuild.

Ill measure it tonight, but I feel sure it is ok. It was only slightly dripping before I rebuilt, and I added the spring washer Chacal recommended. I probably just have the diaphragm snagged. Hope it's not torn.

took it off, checked everything, made sure the plunger was centered and seated, buttoned up and it works. Must have has a fold or wrinkle in the diaphragm.
