So I have decided to go ahead and do some mods on my 83 Maxims frame. After looking at the frame I noticed that a wire feed was used to do most of the welding. Well peeps. what do i do to prevent the metal from warping, and should i use the wirefeed process or....tig?

The idea is not to get too much heat concentrated in one area. First tack the parts together and make short welds (make sure to get good penitration)
I usually tack everything together first, to make it rigid, then go ahead and weld. I like a wire feed in my projects because I can get a better looking weld and do less grinding and dress up afterwards. If you plan todo alot of welding, a wirefeed is a good investment.

if u have some metal laying around, play with that first, plasma cutter is ur friend.

if ur new to a plasma cutter, kust remember to have dry air, miostier is a plasma enemy.

and make sure u have a good ground, other than that they are easy to use.
