Has anyone ever had success using oil soaked foam air filters, for example UNI filters? If so was it more successful than pods. (I know they don't look as good, but I was just curious) And yes I know the airbox is best.

K&N makes both types for the XJ650 Seca; a single oiled foam cartridge to replace the stock one, and the set of four oiled foam pod filters for individual carbs. Is that what you are talking aobut?

The 4 oiled foam cartridges is what I meant, yes, not the tapered pods you see on all the custom bikes but foam individual filters. Anybody have luck with those or is it the same story as with the regular pods? I have an 83 650 maxim.

The foam Unifilters are pods as well, with all the same problems as the K&N ones. Stay with the stock airbox if you have a choice. My .02 cents

Curious to know what problems people are having with the pods...I've had good luck as long as the side covers are kept on to equalize air intake otherwise the outside carbs run lean.
