    Hi all !
    Well I'll start with saying sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I've been a long time reader/random poster, and I'd like to say that there are so many things that everyone's contributions have helped me with I really appreciate it. Most recently I had posted a wanted ad looking for a seat for my '82 maxim and with great help and great service I found one. Here are a couple of pictures from what I started from to where I am now. Anyone have pics of cafe bars on all stock maxim ? Just interested to see ;) Thanks again !

    I paid almost nothing for the bike, and seriously lucked out. I think sometimes you find those diamonds in the rough where I don't think that the bike was ever cleaned lol ! all the years of grease keeping all the metal preserved. Especially being from cold Canada. She purrrs like a kitten now ;)

    How did you clean those carbs up so nice? Ultrasonic?

    The carbs and petcock look to have been soda-blasted!! I love that method as you can rinse them under hot water when you're done and have no worries about glass beads or bits of metal being caught in the little passages since the baking soda just melts away!

    Looks very nice too! Your bike is coming on very nice.....looking good!

    Thanks for the compliments !, believe it or not I didn't do any media blasting what so ever. Everything was covered in so much grease that a dipping in de greaser, hand washed with tooth brush, then dremal buffed, made them that clean. The photo where I'm holding the carb in my hand is right after washing.
    - Yes the bars hit the tank :). I had originally wanted to put a set of 12' mini's on, but decided I liked the drag bars. The drag bars also let me keep the original cables and wires.

    I put two clear 3m circles where the bars touch the tank, you almost can't see the coating on the tank, and stops the chipping.

    Hey I was just wondering how is the ride with the drag bars? thinking about getting a set but wasnt sure how you would sit on the bike...are you leaning forward a lot or is it more of the "stock" stance on the bike?

    I am 6' 1" and body stance didn't change much at all for me when changing to drag bars. Your hands are obviously lower, but the reach forward isn't that drastic. Nothing like a rocket. I ride both and it is way way different
