hey when i went to the wreckers to get a part for an xj650 i needed,,,the bike i took the part off still had the carb/motor intact. should i give them a call to see how much they want for them or is there no purpose. how about just the carb? if so, how much is acceptable?

well, thats true. From the glance i took of it, it seems like the parts that arent there are the tank/misc items. not sure exactly whats missing, but i do know the frame, engine, carb, wheels, are still there

gonna be hard to compression test that motor.... you could take a gamble on it.... I'd definitely grab the carbs.... Personally, IMO, I'd grab the whole mess if you got the space though

I could always make room, but I didn't even think of buying it all. How much would it be worth? And how mush is a set of carbs worth?

No idea what junk yards charge for carbs, but I've gotten 2 spare sets for $50 each (approx). That might have been a great deal. SHRUG.

Heck I got a COMPLETE but not running parts bike for $300. I just had to drive hundreds of miles and rent a trailer to pick it up. At least we made a vacation out of it. :)

nah, if you shop around, they can generally be had for around that. I have two spare racks for the 550s, one is completely serviceable and I'll rebuild it as a spare; one rattier set that could be rebuilt but I got it to use for parts. I believe I paid like $50 and $30 respectively.

Not intending to hijack the post Darth, but how's that 650 coming along Fitz? Any activity at all? I know there's not enough hours in a day.
