1985 XJ700X Starter Relay Wiring Question

I have been trying to figure out why my motorcycle wont start by using the original starter button. I brought the relay (solenoid switch) to a motorcycle shop and they told me that I'm missing a red wire that connects to it. Currently there are two top posts and two posts on the side. Top posts connect to battery and starter motor, while one of the side posts is a blue/white wire that connects to the starter button.

I was wondering if anyone knew what red wire would connect to the starter relay. On dennis kirk website i found a relay (entered my bike info in and shows up that it's a match) that has a blue/white and a red wire that comes out of it. What is this red wire and where does it connect to?

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I've spent weeks trying to figure out this problem and have traced it to the relay. Have ohmed everything out and made sure all the switches work (clutch, kickstand, starter button) and the only thing causing this thing to not work would be the relay.

 

The red is +12V, the blue goes to your starter button, which goes to ground after the switch.

 

where does the 12+ red come from? the switch?
