I have 1985 Maxim X that I bought Jan. of this year. When I first got it, it didn't want to start. I changed the spark plugs to iridium and I was able to make it run after that, but it was kind of running rough. I decided to clean the carbs and there was some rust in the carbs so now i placed a glass filter after the petcock and carbs. Since it has 23000 miles I decided to adjust the valves. I finall finished everything and now the bike doesn't want to start. The battery is full charge, and is connected to the charger.
What am I missing? What are the things that I need to check to troubleshoot the problem? I appreciate all the input that I can get! Tnx

Start by going back and double-checking your CAM timing.

That is what I was thinking. What else do I need to check before opening the cover again?

I would start to narrow it down first. Check for a spark on the spark plugs. If you have a spark then you know it's not electrical. See if it will start with starter fluid. If it will then you know it's your carbs (possibly tuning or cleaning) or something related
