81 seca 750 very dirty carbs????

hi everyone,

my name is jonathan and this is the first bike I have ever owned and i pulled the carbs off and cleanned as much of the 10 plus years off sitting varnish out. i flushed all jets and floats and cleaned all of the float vlves and two of the float needles were missing the pointed rubber tip. will this effect running? I put the carbs back on and I am also trying to run with out the gas tank right now because it has to be lined. is there anything I can do because the only thing i get is it tries to start but just stumbles. never starts just kicks a little? thankyou all for looking and reading this even though its long winded and jumpes around

 

without the rubber tips on the needles those carbs won't shut off and will end up flooding those cylinders and likely your crank case as well especially if you are running off an axillary tank. Get your carbs repaired 100% or you will be running in circles until you do.

It's called "The Church of Clean" and it's very important. Frankly I can't believe your bike runs at all missing two float needle stops.
